Heather Witherden's organ donor card includes her tongue: sharp, never bitten and firmly in cheek. Her anecdotes and scribblings on life have earned her a reputation as someone you want to keep as a friend and definitely not an enemy, although she's often the target of her own wit. She's got a bullet; a quick-draw punchline that hits you before you ever saw it coming, and she's not afraid to shoot.

She's a crowd favourite because she has a likeability that is off the charts yet a very biting and surprising wit which makes you admire her even more. Heather began her comedy career as a volunteer for the CBC Winnipeg Comedy Festival and two years later found herself performing in it! Onstage she tells you about the trials of raising three sons but you can tell her exasperation is driven by love. After graduating Dalhousie University, Heather continued to avoid any real responsibility until her first baby was born, and suddenly she went from part-time employment to full-time slavery.

Heather needed an outlet for her thoughts and so she wrote home to her family and friends, most times asking for a plane ticket, but ended up finding out that writing was a suitable diversion from the drudgery of keeping a home. Upon finding out it was 1995 and not 1895, Heather also took up blogging on the internet, and stopped sewing her own clothing. Until she chose to step on stage and do five minutes of stand-up comedy in 2006, Heather had been mainly known for her excellent banana bread and her hilarious Christmas letters.

Since she entered her own personal renaissance period, Heather has performed at a variety of events and venues around Winnipeg, small town Manitoba and Saskatchewan, and even the famous Rivoli in Toronto. As the character Stella Starlight, she hosts Moonlight Madness, a neo-burlesque show with music, comedy and striptease, and she's ventured into improv too, performing for a season with Prairie Theatre Exchange. She's a welcome addition to the show wherever she goes, for her fresh, unexpected and delightfully clever outlook.
